My Approach
After exploring various classical approaches in graduate school, I embraced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a transformative way to understand and alter behavior. CBT taught me how to collaborate with clients in identifying patterns that need change and actively working towards shifting those behaviors. During this period, I also integrated Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice. However, I noticed that clients often returned with recurring issues, feeling disempowered rather than equipped to handle their challenges independently. While these methods provided valuable insights, they seemed to keep clients in a cycle of dependency.

Over time, I have transitioned to a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) model, which centers on empowering you as the expert of your own experience. You possess the resources within you; I am here to help you unleash them. In this model, my role is to facilitate your journey toward self-directed change. You are the hero in this therapeutic relationship, and I am here to guide you toward the outcomes you desire.

While understanding the "why" behind behaviors is important, it isn’t the sole focus of my practice. Instead, I concentrate on designing strategies that not only address the immediate problems but also pave the way for lasting solutions that enable you to live the life you envision.

This approach maintains our focus on a clear end goal. My ultimate objective is to equip you with the tools you need to no longer require my assistance. I aim to foster independence, allowing you to manage your mental health effectively and sustainably. While you will always be a part of our community, my goal is to help you achieve your desired outcomes as quickly as possible, making room for others who need support.
